Dear Friend, This is a letter we wish we never had to write. It is a letter seeking donations for a fundraiser we wish we never had to plan. Over the Holidays, Gerard and Diana Menzel were given just about the worst news anybody could ever hear. What they thought was swollen glands turned out to be Stage IV Hodgkin lymphoma cancer. Because of her young age of 37, the doctors are treating her very aggressively. Diana is currently undergoing routine chemotherapy treatments. Gerard and Diana have two young girls, ages two and four, as you can imagine this is such an emotional and financially difficult time for any family to go thorough. Shortly after learning about this terrible news, a group of friends organized “Friends of the Menzel’s”. On March 9th at the Kenilworth Veterans Hall, 33 south 21st Street, Kenilworth NJ, a fundraiser will take place to raise money to offset the many medical bills incurred during this extensive treatment. This is where we seek the kindness and generosity of others. We ask that you look deep into your hearts and make a financial donation for this event. Even the smallest of donations can go a long way. If it is within your means, your generosity will be greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to … Bank of America C/O Maria Sa- Marciante 1050 Raritan Road Clark, NJ 07066, Make donations payable to Gerard Menzel. Not everyone is in a position to offer financial assistance. If this is the case for you, we do ask you keep Diana and her family in your thoughts and prayers. In turn we will do the same for you. After all, prayers do get answered. We thank you in advance for your generosity. Sincerely, Friends of the Menzel’s “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” –Winston Churchill
